History
Carmen National High School is committed to providing a standard of education that ensures its learners are well-prepared to compete in various fields. Established in 1978 under the leadership of Lucia Velasco Vergara, the school has continuously evolved to meet the educational needs of its students.
Initially spanning 1.4 hectares with two buildings, Marcos and Gabaldon, Carmen High School underwent significant expansion in 1978, thanks to the support of the Sangguniang Bayan, under Mayor Teodoro Leoncito Sr. The school's premises were expanded to approximately five hectares, laying the foundation for growth.
Despite early challenges, including the untimely stroke suffered by Lucia V. Vergara in 1980, the school persevered under interim leadership, such as that of Miss Delapaz Nebrija, appointed by District Supervisor Florencio Maglupay. These transitions underscored the school's resilience and adaptability.
In subsequent years, the school experienced transformative leadership under figures like Mr. Moler A. Madrid, who joined Carmen High School as one of its original teachers and later became principal. Madrid's tenure saw significant advancements, including the introduction of the Technical Vocational Education (TVE) program, offering students valuable skills and certifications.
Leadership transitions continued to shape Carmen National High School's trajectory, with subsequent principals such as Lorna Sabando and Melea M. Dugayo bringing their visions to enhance the school's offerings and facilities. Sabando, for instance, prioritized the beautification of the campus and managed the integration of the K to 12 curriculum.
Under Dugayo's stewardship, the school introduced specialized programs such as the Special Program in the Arts, the Special Science Program (formerly Science Technology Engineering), and the Special Program in Sports. These initiatives aimed to provide diverse opportunities for students to excel academically and in extracurricular activities.
In 2023, Rowena M. Abellanida assumed leadership, continuing the school's tradition of excellence. Her focus on maintaining a clean and conducive learning environment reflects the ongoing commitment to quality education at Carmen National High School.
Today, Carmen National High School stands as a beacon of educational excellence in North Cotabato, offering a robust K to 12 curriculum that equips students with the skills and knowledge to compete effectively in a globalized world. The school's dedication to continuous improvement ensures that learners receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for future challenges and opportunities.
